On August 1 Tim Hammond appeared on the podcast “On Boys” hosted by Jennifer Fink and Janet Allison. The 50-minute interview, titled “Circumcision Facts & Myths” was the first time that the interviewers devoted an episode on the topic. The podcast promotes itself as “Real talk about parenting, teaching and reaching tomorrow’s men.” During the wide-ranging discussion Hammond ably refuted the alleged benefits of circumcision, but also made sure to stress the unique anatomy and beneficial physiology of the penile prepuce. He also informed listeners about the emerging research into the long-term adverse consequences to boys – and the men they become – that is often not discussed when parents are solicited by medical professionals for this non-therapeutic, non-consensual surgery.
