The Inaugural Intact Global Conference and subsequent news conference, held March 29-31, 2025 in Portland Oregon, exceeded all expectations thanks to the presence, passion and collaboration of more than 65 attendees who came from across the U.S., as well as Canada, Australia and Uganda. The energy in the meeting room, the depth of the conversations, and the sense of shared purpose were truly inspiring. It was a weekend that reminded us why this community is so powerful—and why our collective work matters.
Conference organizers heard from many attendees that this gathering felt truly special—and the world is taking notice. News articles highlighting the conference are already gaining traction in both the U.S. and the U.K., underscoring the global impact of the work we’re doing together.
GALDEF Executive Director Tim Hammond presented on not only his personal history that brought him to intactivism in 1989, but his achievements in the movement since that time, leading up to the founding of GALDEF. His presentation focused on a tour of our website, its resources for attorneys and plaintiffs, its current and future programs, and what makes GALDEF both similar to and distinctively different from Intact Global. Hammond was also please to present Intact Global founder Eric Clopper with a symbolic check representing GALDEF’s pledge of $10,000 to Intact Global’s equal protection challenge in Oregon.
On Monday, March 31 a news conference was held in downtown Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square to announce the court filing of the historic equal protection challenge to Oregon’s FGM statute. The event was attended by more than three dozen people from the conference and offered speeches by almost a dozen speakers.
